Dr. Ron Mjanger, a native of Norway, received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in the United States and returned to Norway to earn his medical degree at the University of Oslo Medical School in 1982. He completed his residency at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1988. He is board certified as a Fellow in the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), with additional board certification as an inaugural Fellow in the subspecialty of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS).

Specialties & Philosophy of Care

Dr. Mjanger has an unparalleled level of experience in helping women with medical concerns that include urinary incontinence, endometriosis, pelvic organ prolapse, fibroids, pelvic pain, infertility, and cosmetic and reconstructive vaginal surgery. He has performed more than 10,000 minimally invasive surgical procedures. His special medical interests, extensive training and experience in computer-enhanced laparoscopic surgery rank him as one of the top gynecologic surgeons in Minnesota. As a designated robotic surgery instructor by Intuitive Surgical Systems, maker of the da Vinci® Surgical System, Dr. Mjanger has served as the lead surgical trainer at the robotic training center in St. Paul, where he trains doctors from around the U.S. and Europe in robotic minimally invasive techniques. He has performed more of these procedures than anyone in the state of Minnesota, and sees patients from around the region who seek the highest level of experience.

Dr. Mjanger sees patients at Metro OBGYN clinic locations in Apple Valley, Woodbury and Maplewood. He is also a clinical assistant professor at the University Of Minnesota Medical School, and has served as chief of obstetrics for Health East Care System and United Hospital in St. Paul, as well as ObGyn director for the Ramsey County Medical Society. He is a member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS) and the Minnesota Medical Society (MMS).

Personal Notes

Before studying medicine, Dr. Mjanger was a navigator in the Norwegian Air Force and has trained with the U.S. Air Force and Navy. In his free time, he still enjoys piloting airplanes, boating on the Mississippi River, and riding his Harley. In the winter, he works part time as a ski instructor. He has three adult children.
